IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – ROAD 2 HELL EVENT CANCELLED
We are devastated to have to announce the cancellation of this year’s ROAD 2 HELL.
The event last year was hugely successful and entertained some 25K visitors during a very difficult time for everyone. It brought something amazing to the area and employed a number of staff and crew when hospitality was hid hard by the pandemic. Heart of England worked closely with Health & Safety authorities to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all.
Recently, we have been in talks with a different department at that same local authority who have now informed us that if we go ahead with the event again, we may face huge fines and criminal charges. It is their judgement that the event contravenes a ruling against having motorised vehicles driving through the woodland at The Heart of England due to it being on Green Belt land.
Of course this is totally heartbreaking and confusing to all of the team, especially after the incredible success of last year and the complete backing by the same council. To be told at such a late stage of course leaves us in a position that we are unable to move to an alternative location, something that we could have easily planned for if we had any idea that this was likely to happen.
Stephen Hammon - The Managing Director and Owner of The Heart of England said:
“It’s a bolt from the blue and the mind boggles at how this decision can be in anyone’s interest whatsoever. An exceptional, award winning event was delivered last year and it passed off safely, without complaint or disruption and brought joy to many.
Our hard working team have been left high and dry and are of course gutted to be told that they are out of a job, we are still awaiting full clarification from the council as to what it means for the future of the event – but rest assured, somehow ROAD TO HELL will be back next year,
and Halloween season will return to Heart of England.
Your money is safe of course and will be refunded by our ticket partner Skiddle, the whole team at Heart of England and Area 51 have been totally blindsided by this news and we can only express our complete shock at this week’s action. We’re all really upset by this as we know you will be, and we ask for your understanding and patience at this difficult time.”
We know that you will be all incredibly disappointed at missing out on ROAD TO HELL’s unique Halloween experience.
We can recommend a couple of excellent (on-foot) alternatives that you may like to consider instead – both expertly designed by
Area 51 and in the local area.
